In this episode of Faith Training, I talk about the power of the blood of Jesus Christ and how to be saved. Do you have the assurance of knowing that you have eternal life? Do you know that it is available to you and that God wants a relationship with you?
Bible Study Scripture References:
Atonement means reparation for a wrong or injury. It’s a payment.
The wages of sin is death.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 ESV
Only blood can atone or pay for sin.
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.”
Leviticus 17:11 ESV
It is through the blood of Jesus Christ that we are cleansed of sin.
1 John 1:7
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
1 John 1:7 ESV
We are redeemed and receive forgiveness for our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ.
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,”
Ephesians 1:7 ESV
We plead the blood of Jesus Christ as our only defense. Why?
Revelations 12:10 talks about how Satan, the accuser, accuses us before the throne of God day and night.
Verse 11 goes on to say that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.
We plead the blood of Jesus Christ because we are guilty of sin, but His blood has paid the debt for our sins.
That is our only defense that has satisfied God’s wrath for sin. Otherwise, we would have to plead guilty, because we like sheep have all gone astray.
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 53:6 ESV
We all fall short of the glory of God.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 3:23 ESV
We plead the blood also because it is by His blood we are healed.
“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:5 ESV
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”
1 Peter 2:24 ESV
So what do we do about our sin problem?
We repent. We turn from sin and turn back to God, and we believe in Jesus Christ.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9 ESV
“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9 ESV
Instead of coming at God as if He owes us something for all the good that we think we are doing, We have to realize that He doesn’t owe us anything and yet while we were still sinners He sent His only Son to die for our sins so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but receive eternal life. And He did this not to condemn the world, but that in order that the world might be saved through Him. (paraphrased from John 3:16-17)
This is grace. We don’t have to earn it. We can’t earn it. It’s a gift that we couldn’t repay if we tried. All that is required of us is to believe and follow Jesus.
