Drawing Into God’s Presence

I’m excited about this 3-part series because I believe God will bless your socks off with it! When we draw into God's presence we experience peace and joy. We see more of His glory. We connect with the power of the Holy Spirit and are refreshed. In this series, I discuss the scripture and practical ways that we can apply what it says to draw into God's presence.

For this episode, part 1, God led me to 1 Chronicles 16:8-12, and He showed me 8 steps that we can apply now to draw into His presence.

Are you focused on the mountain or God’s glory?

Keep your eyes focused on Jesus. Don’t look at circumstances.

Eliminate idols. They will skew your view of what God is telling you. It will blur your vision and cloud your judgment. You will hear what you want to hear instead of listening with an open and surrendered mind. Ask God to reveal any idols in your life and turn back to God.

Seek His Presence

“Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16:11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered,”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16:8-12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

1. Give thanks.

2. Give Him credit.

3. Sing praises.

4. Tell of His works.

5. Glory in His name.

6. Rejoice!

7. Seek His presence.

8. Remember all that He has done for you.

This is part two of “How To Draw Into God’s Presence.” In this episode, I cover 10 steps that we can apply to draw into God’s presence from James 4:1-10. Join me in learning from this passage of scripture.

“What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.”

‭‭James‬ ‭4:1-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

1. Align your mind with God’s will.

2. Break up with worldly motives.

3. Ask God to expose the idols in your life.

4. Humble yourself before God.

5. Resist the devil.

6. Draw near to God.

7. Purify your hands (work), heart (motives and desires) and mind (thoughts).

8. Stop wavering in your faith in Jesus Christ. The double mind has one foot still in the world. It’s stuck.

9. Focus your single mind on the will of the Father.

10. Wait on Him to exalt you, and quit trying to exalt yourself.

This is part 3 of “How To Draw Into God’s Presence.” In this episode, I discuss the final steps of drawing into God’s presence.

Be still.

““Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!””

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭46:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭107:29‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Wait on the Lord.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-26‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Take courage!

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Trust Him and pour out your heart to Him.

“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭62:5-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Intertwine with the Lord

“but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:31‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Call to the Lord.

“Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭118:5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Wait for the grace of His deliverance and find rest.

“Then I called on the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!” Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭116:4-7‬ ‭ESV‬‬
