Love Your Enemies (Part 2)

I didn’t originally plan to do a part 2 on “Love Your Enemies,” but the Lord gave me deeper insight and revelation on this subject so I wanted to pass it along. I hope this takes you closer to the heart of God, as well.

Bible Study Scripture References:

Godly grief leads to repentance. The difference between godly grief and worldly grief is HOPE!

“For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭7:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Grieving the Holy Spirit

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:29-32‬ ‭ESV‬‬

He makes all things new. There’s no sinful nature in heaven or in the new heaven and new earth.

“For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:14-21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Reconciliation is the message that we preach!!!

With Jesus at the center of everything, every relationship we have will be completely different and better and restored to a completely loving and innocent relationship as we have never seen before.

““You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:21-22‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

https://www.bible.com/bible/59/1jn.3.15.esv

““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.””

‭‭John‬ ‭3:16-21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

https://www.bible.com/bible/59/jhn.3.16-21.esv

“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:6-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

https://www.bible.com/bible/59/rom.5.6-10.esv

Another way to say that would be that while we were friends with the world and enemies of God, enemies of Christ, Jesus died for us and died for all.

God loved us enough to send His own son to die for His enemies.

How then can we turn around and hate our enemies? As Christians, we are to love one another, regard each other as redeemable, and regard one another as new creations in Christ.

That means we make every effort to let go of our past sinful nature and to walk by the Spirit. We love and pray for those that are still walking by the sinful nature. We pray for their salvation and deliverance just as we would pray for our own. We leave judgment to God. We show mercy, and we seek God’s counsel for how to set healthy boundaries.
